Two-Church Book Read

Union Missionary Baptist and First Presbyterian Churches will be discussing our first two-church book read Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 7:00 PM. We will be discussing the first half of, From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the Twenty-First Century by William A. Darity, Jr. and Kirsten Mullen. The authors describe the book this way… “From Here to Equality is a book primarily about the economic divide between black and white Americans – how it came to be and how it can be eliminated. Specifically, we contend, a suitably designed program of reparations can close the divide. Black reparations can place America squarely on the path to racial equality.”

Union Missionary Baptist and First Presbyterian are reading together and our combined activity will culminate into our usual two-church service where we will discuss the second half of the book after the worship service on Sunday, November 14, 2021.

The discussion on Tuesday, October 19, 7:00 PM, will be led by First Pres’ new Director of Congregational Life and Outreach, Prince Solace! This will be a great opportunity to welcome Prince aboard.
