2021 General Theme
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
Now the Lord is Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Sermon Subject: Joy
Sermon text: 1 John 1:4 –And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
Propositional statement: John offers a panacea for those surrounded by pessimism and doubt. He believed that in the midst of trying times, joy could be found in “the word of life,” in the promise of eternal life, and in fellowship with the Father and the Son.
John’s message should resonate with us, seeing that we are going through difficult times, a pandemic, a sagging economy, and an uptick in racial tensions; one might ask:
Where can you find joy? John believed that:
- Joy could be found in difficult times in the “the word of life” (v.1)
- Joy could be found when hope is gone in the knowledge of eternal life (v.2)
- Joy could be found under the burden of oppression with fellowship of the Father and Son (v.3)
Conclusion: When you experience the word of life, embrace the eternality of life, and enjoy the fellowship of the Father and Son, your joy will be full! “Oh, what a fellowship; Oh, what a joy divine; leaning on the everlasting arms…” “This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it to me, and the world can’t take it way!”
