Giving Tuesday – 500 Pounds of Food (Green Beans & Corn)

Union Missionary Baptist Church has two initiatives for Giving Tuesday!  

We invite you to join us in supporting one or both on Tuesday December 2, 2025! 

  1. Help the Greater Lansing Food Bank by participating in our Giving Tuesday food drive . 

    • Our goal is to collect a total of 500 pounds of beans and corn to help those in need within our community.
    • This initiative is being coordinated by Deacon Cheryl Celestine along with UMBC Rooted Cohort members Doris Copedge and Kay Shannon. They are organizing this event to facilitate drop-off opportunities for food donations.
    • LOCATION:  Parking lot of Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Lansing.
    • Donations will be accepted between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

How You Can Contribute

      1. Volunteers and friends are encouraged to drive up and drop off food donations of corn and green beans.
      2. Alternatively, monetary contributions of $5.98 are welcome.  Please ensure your contribution reaches us by November 30th to allow the purchase of canned goods.**

2.  Make Donation to support Youth Ministry Trip to National Baptist Congress of Christian Education in June 2026

UMBC’s Youth Ministry is organizing a trip for youth and chaperones to attend the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education in 2026. The ministry is currently seeking financial assistance to make this opportunity accessible for all participants. Additional fundraising opportunities are also planned. Donations will help cover essential costs such as registration, transportation, accommodation, and meals.

How You Can Support

Monetary donations will be accepted either online or in person on December 2nd. These contributions directly enable youth and chaperones to participate in this transformative experience.  Also note that additional fundraising opportunities will be conducted during the year.

The National Missionary Baptist Convention of America is renowned for its commitment to spiritual growth and community engagement.
