Union Missionary Baptist Church (UMBC) Voices of Union (VOU), under the direction of Willie Huddleston Jr, is thrilled to host the highly anticipated “Send The Praise Up!” Concert on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The concert will be held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, located at 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This is a FREE event and is open to the public!
The evening will feature VOU, special guest Candace Potts of Lansing, Michigan, and the Lansing COGIC Praise Team.
Willie Huddleston Jr., emphasized that that “Voices of Union transcends the realm of music.” He described it as embodying the collective experiences of generations who have worshipped together, nurtured their faith, and drawn strength from community bonds. This concert honors the foundation upon which the church stands while celebrating its ongoing impact.
For generations, the Voices of Union have been an integral part of Lansing’s spiritual and cultural landscape. Through worship services, revivals, anniversaries, community gatherings, funerals, celebrations, and pivotal moments throughout the city’s history, Union’s choir and music ministry have played a significant role in shaping a legacy rooted in faith, excellence, perseverance, and unity.
Reverend Kenny Craig, Pastor of UMBC said, “this event goes beyond being just a concert”. He explained that the choir plays a pivotal role in preserving historical narratives, fostering community cohesion, and creating sanctuaries for healing, hope, and worship across generations.
The community is cordially invited to attend the FREE event. The invitation is extended to include community members, former choir members, families, neighboring churches, and residents throughout mid-Michigan
Event organizers anticipate that the concert will not only be a night of worship and celebration but also a poignant reminder of the enduring power of community-centered ministry and gospel music in uniting generations.
Doors open at 6:00 PM and the concert begins at 7:00 PM.
