Mission

BUILDING COMMUNITY

[Matthew 16: 18]  “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

2021 General Theme:

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

The process of being conformed to the image of Christ for the glory of God and for the sake of others.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Now the Lord is Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Quarterly Themes

Spiritual Discernment  (2 Corinthians 3:17a)

Spiritual Liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17b)

Spiritual Insight (2 Corinthians 3:18a)

Spiritual Growth (2 Peter 3:18c)

ENHANCEMENTS COMING – MIDWEEK WORSHIP

Starting this week on Wednesday, our UMBC Midweek Worship and Bible Study is migrating to an interactive Zoom meeting format.  Participants will be able to call in and listen/watch/interact using the link to the live stream. In addition, Pastor Jones plans to parallel the Bible Study with the quarterly theme or content that was presented during the Sunday Sermon.

Facebook provides a 1-way broadcast that is similar to watching TV.  When the meeting is live, people can see you and can post a comment, but it isn’t very interactive. Zoom allows the meeting host (and others) to share screens with participants at the same time and participants can share comments or answer questions in real time.

ANNUAL PIZZA & RAIMENT – Hallelujah Clothing Outreach Social

The giving campaign wraps up this week, on Saturday January 17, 2021.

On Friday, Michigan’s Governor announced a March 1st target to get face-to-face classes in place for students.

With that said, we agree that school is different this year, but many families in the community with children need help. UMBC and the Greater Lansing Area Club (GLAC) are collecting donations for personal protection equipment and back to school clothing gift certificates after the holidays.

Both, UMBC and GLAC will distribute items with pizza to selected families with children.   An encouraging message will be offered through Zoom.   The giving campaign wraps up on January 17, 2021.

Here’s how to DONATE….
